The Grammy Chart
It seems to me that, when it comes to the Red Carpet, actresses do it better. The singers, in my opinion, take too many risks and a lot of the time get it SO wrong! It seems it's all about standing out and making a "Fashion Statement"; I get that.... but wearing meat (just an example) is not a "Fashion Statement" it's a MISTAKE OF LIFE - NEVER TO BE REPRODUCED.
Bearing that in mind, I won't be doing my usual categories. I will save those for the Red Carpets of Acting Award Shows. This review will be in the "Chart" format instead.
The Chart will go from Best to Worst. Here is the thing though... I don't actually LOVE any of them but I have to work with what I am given ... so here I go. I will try to be nice ... unless it's too difficult to hold back !!
Alicia Keys in Alaïa
She looks hot.
Not really a big fan of snake print and of the "cut out" dresses but she can definitely pull it off.
It's a risk but it's not risky enough to be a Mistake .
The hair and jewellery works with the dress so I can't fault her on her overall look.
Top of the Chart.
Rihanna in Alaïa
The dress is nice. Really like the colour but I don't like the "décolleté". I think it's too low and therefore not very flattering.
She forgot to do her hair. Ruins it.
The overall look is missing something because she needed an up -do or a pony tail to "funk" it up a little.
I also kind of think the trail at the back is too long for the Grammys ...
2nd in the Chart.
Taylor Swift in J Mendel
I think the colour and shape of the dress suit her.
I'm not really understanding the silver line down the middle of the top of the dress but I like the horizontal bit right at the top.
I love her hair. It really works with the "Greek Goddess" look.
I like that she looks young and fresh and does not try to go over the top to make all the headlines !
3rd in the chart.
Ashanti in Tony Ward Couture
I actually would love this dress if it was NOT transparent ?!? What is going on ??
It has a nice shape to it at the top with some originality . It goes in at the waist before the drop. I like that because it shows off some nice curves.
I like the little coloured flowers. .... why is it see through ?? I'm actuality asking ? Totes confused!
Love the hair and earrings. Can't really see the shoes.
It's a shame ... I liked it but then I didn't !
Now it goes downhill .... Fast !
Kelly Rowland in George Chakra
Hmmmmmm ... it was a good idea and then someone took it too far when the scissors got handed over to the wrong person....
Love the shape and the neckline . Very flattering. However, it's too much reveal.
I don't really know what else to say .... maybe the bottom cut outs should have been lower?
Or maybe all the cut outs should have been thiner?
Katy Perry in Gucci
Oh my !
1. Who chose this colour? Mint?!
2. Hair ! Do it !
3. Hello Boobs! Had to say it ....
The same dress in black (with the coloured detail at the top) with smaller boobs and an up-do would have been great (in my opinion) however I have seen her wear some really weird outfits before so I guess this is not so bad !
Kimbra Lee Johnson in Lee Major
Tinker Bell gone Red Carpet.
If it wasn't for the "poof" bit sticking out the side this probably would have been higher up in the chart.
It's definitely cute and works with her fun hair cut and make -up.
I actually really like it without the poof ! The little gold sparkles hide everything but still give you a sense of mystery and appropriate sexiness.
I like it .... without the poof ! So close !
Florence Welch in Givenchy
It's a Dinosaur Dress.
What else am I suppose to say ?
Fail.
Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood
I'm so sorry Viv but this looks like wrapping paper .
It does not fit.
The colour and fabric look awful.
The cut is confusing.
Hate the shoes.
Why the long black hair and dark red lip with a blue dress and nude shoes ...?
Moving on ....
Adele in Valentino Couture
Couture or Carpet?
I'm so sorry Adele but this is not working for you and it's not working for Valentino.
It does look like a carpet and I don't think people should wear carpets unless it's a fancy dress party and you want to come as a carpet.
I do appreciate the matching carpet shoes though :D
Well that's it ! I'm looking forward to reviewing the BAFTAs - I hope to find some amazing gowns ... ! Until then :
Much love and shoes,
à bientôt,
Mlle Ginger
