... and it belonged to Cinderella.
Today I was browsing the internet and I came across this shoe by Vivienne Westwood:
As soon as I saw it I though it looked so much like a Cinderella Slipper ! It's so different to any shoe that I own but I am sooooo drawn to it. That's probably because it screams "Fairy Tale Ending " .
Cinderella is a great Fairy Tale about hope and love and happy endings BUT it would never have been successful if it wasn't for the Glass Slipper. How many little girls out there watch Cinderella and think "Wow look at those Glass Slippers " or " I wish my Prince would look for me in the whole kingdom with my Glass Slipper in hand " ?
Remember this part of the Disney version of Cinderella?
As I was thinking about Cinderella and the Glass Slipper, I thought of a all the shoe designers out there that must have been inspired to create a Cinderella Slipper and found this by the brilliant Christian Louboutin:
Then I remembered a major Cinderella inspired moment: when Mr Big puts the abandoned blue Manolo Blahniks on Carrie at the end of Sex and The City - The Movie .
Remember that moment in the film ? You instantly go right back to that little girl feeling you had when you watched Cinderella .... because it's the same thing ! The Prince (Mr Big) slips the Slipper on to the foot of his Princess (Carrie Bradshaw) and they will live happily ever after ....
I'm sure there will be a lot more Cinderella inspired moments in movies and many more shoe designs based on the idea of the Glass Slipper. These Fairy Tale references keep us in touch with our Fairy Tale endings we look for ...
... so I hope every girl out there can find their very own Glass Slippers because I believe that a Fairy Tale Ending may start with a Shoe ;)
Much love and shoes,
à bientôt,
Mlle Ginger
